Welcome Advanced Dancers

Prev Next Welcome

As an advanced dancer, you have already solved most of the problems beginner and intermediate dancers are struggling with. Your experience has put you in touch with the subconscious cues dancers use to communicate. You must realize by now that almost all that the woman does is go straight and turn. Still, you probably are not able to articulate all the rules in a simple, logical framework.

Problems

Sometimes you come across another advanced dancer where everything goes great and you have a magical moment. Sometimes you need a regular partner to have this kind of thrilling experience. Sometimes you dance with someone who is also an advanced dancer and yet the two of you feel out of sync, unable to truly mesh. If that happens at all, it is too often. Why does that happen?

One reason is everyone has their own unique method of communicating. When you dance with someone whose method is close to yours, the dancing is better. When you dance with someone whose method is not compatible with yours, the dancing is worse. The factor that most determines how compatible you are is how much tension and pressure you use. If you both use about the same amount, your dancing will be easier. If you both use exactly the same amount, you have a chance for your communication to be unambiguous. Obviously, the only way to consistently use exactly the same amount is to use none.

Logically Consistent, Comprehensive, Unambiguous Method of Communicating

Unambiguous communication is the nirvana of social dancing. Unambiguous communication means you and your partner know what to do without confusion.

Andrew Weitzen's ABCDs of How To Dance With a Partner is the only unambiguous method for communicating every step in every social dance in the same way with every partner. There are many benefits of communicating unambiguously. Your dancing will be safer, easier, more comfortable, and more natural. You will have greater freedom of movement. You can express yourself more fully. You will be faster.

How To Dance With a Partner uses no force to communicate. Since there is no use of force, everyone uses the same amount of pressure and tension, none. With the clearly defined set of rules and signals, you can now communicate unambiguously. Welcome to partner dancing nirvana.
